This week is my final planner review and giveaway for 2015 – the 2016 Purposeful Planner in Holly Floral! The Purposeful Planner is special to me because I’ve been in a Facebook group with the creator, Corie Clark, for several years and I’ve been able to watch as she developed this planner last year (2014) in time to release the very first edition into the world for 2015. I am so inspired by people who decide they want to do something and figure out how to get it done!
I am very excited to be sharing this review with all of you this week, and I’m even more excited to be giving one away – especially because this daily floral design is already sold out!
2016 Purposeful Planner in Holly Floral
Basic Stats: $52 // 9” wide x 10” tall – 448 pages // floral hard cover with gold foil detail // Gold wire-o binding // protective gold corners
The planner comes in a super cute black and white striped keepsake box – and it’s big – 11″ x 11″ x 3″! It also happens to match the inside covers of the planner. The front inside-cover also has a pocket for storing loose papers or thin notebooks, and the monthly tabs are a soft pink that match the flowers on the cover as well.
The front section of the planner includes a welcome/intro page from Corie, and then several detailed yearly goal setting pages so you can give yourself a big-picture view before diving into your monthly planning.
Unlike other planners I’ve reviewed that have a one or two year year-at-a-glance calendars, the Purposeful Planner has a two-page spread that shows four years from 2016-2019! Now you obviously can’t write on these calendars like a few others, but you could definitely highlight/circle important dates to see them all in one place.
Now for the monthly pages! These pages are included in every single month – not just at the beginning of the planner, which is why the Purposeful Planner is the largest and heaviest of all the planners I’ve reviewed – I would say it is definitely a keep-on-your-desk planner.
I will also mention here that the text ink in this planner is very black, and in stark contract to the white pages. All the other planners have had a softer text color (in some cases a little too light) but for me, I think this may be a bit too dark – however it makes it very easy to read, and you don’t have to squint to read it, which can be a very good thing if you’re planning your days early in the morning or late at night.
First up is the two-page monthly calendar. Very simple design with lots of space to write! I love how big it is and there is no wasted space.
Next up are the monthly budget and monthly menu planning pages. I might utilize the budget page just to write some things down (I use YNAB for my real budgeting) but I personally would never use the menu pages. They would stand as sad monthly reminders to me of my lack of cooking skills and my singleness. haha! I can see how this page would come in super handy for family meal planning though and it’s the only planner I’ve seen with a dedicated page to planning out your top monthly meals!
On the next two pages you will find the monthly master task list, and a page for your monthly goal setting. Of all the extra pages, I love these two the most! I am constantly re-writing my “to-clean” list and I think it would be really nice to have it all together sitting right in front of me every month. I think it would also be a great way to track when the last time it was that I actually cleaned that specific area. Time does seem to fly and I become very forgetful.
The dreams and goals page is a great monthly reminder to revisit and refocus on what you want to work on this month/year. It’s easy to write down some yearly goals and resolutions, but it’s even easier to lose focus on those items as the months fly by!
Immediately after the goals page, starts the daily pages. The thing about the daily Purposeful Planner, is that every single day gets it own full page layout – this includes Saturday and Sunday! You don’t have to fight for space on a single combined page here – you can plan each weekend day exactly as you would a weekday day. I love this feature!
Each daily layout includes the following:
Date // Bible verse or quote // a top 3 to-dos // Health // Water tracking // Hourly schedule layout from 6am -9pm // Prayer & Praise // 15 minute suggestion for cleaning/clearing/decluttering // Brain Dump notes space // Retail Therapy // Menu
Needless to say, there is a lot going on on each daily page, however I feel it maximizes the page space and doesn’t feel cluttered at all. Again, this is a big planner, so there is adequate room for all the additional tracking/planning sections.
And that’s the 2016 Purposeful Planner! I think it would be a beautiful addition to anyone’s desk!
